Step-down from county-funded detox

Stepping down from county detox
in LA County?
Sober Stay covers the bridge.

For BHS liaisons, probation officers, and MAT counselors handing off a resident leaving a county-funded detox in Los Angeles County. Sober Stay bills the actual Medi-Cal programs the resident is already enrolled in, flags a MAT-compatible house from the first call, and coordinates a warm hand-off so the clinical plan keeps running.

Not a county-funded detox? Sober Stay also takes step-downs from outpatient and incarceration — and self-referrals start at /intake.

What Sober Stay covers

Four things this step-down
actually needs.

Sober living that bridges a county-funded detox has to do specific jobs the private-pay operators skip. Sober Stay does all of them, against the Medi-Cal programs the resident is already enrolled in — not a private-pay scholarship stacked on sticker rent.

For the full funding stack — DMC-ODS, LA County RBH, and DHCS Transitional Rent — see /programs.

01 · Funding

Medi-Cal via DMC-ODS and LA County RBH.

Sober Stay is a licensed DMC-ODS recovery housing provider and enrolls clients in LA County Recovery Bridge Housing (RBH) the same week as move-in. Sober Stay bills room-and-board against the day rate — not a $3,000/month buy-in, not sticker rent stacked on top. RBH re-enrollment runs at every 60-day redetermination and is handled in-house.

02 · MAT

MAT-compatible houses, including methadone and buprenorphine.

Sober Stay flags MAT-compatible residences from the first pre-screen. Residents on methadone, Suboxone, buprenorphine, or vivitrol keep their current regimen — no forced taper, no Suboxone curfew, no medication count at the door. The pre-screen asks whether the resident is on MAT so we route them to the right house from the first call.

03 · Hand-off

Warm hand-off from the county detox team.

Sober Stay funds the bridge-housing side, but the clinical team keeps running the treatment plan. We coordinate transfer-of-care paperwork, MAT continuity, and same-week face time before move-in so the resident does not lose coverage or a slot in the detox program’s outpatient follow-up.

04 · Renewals

Redetermination and RBH re-enrollment, handled in-house.

A sober-living placement falls apart the moment coverage lapses. Sober Stay runs the 60/30/7 redetermination checklist already published on the renewal page, re-enrolls RBH at every renewal cycle, and keeps your resident enrolled until they graduate to stable housing.
